CALLIGRAPHY WATCHES[In Love Now]
Japanese Greats, in collaboration with Kousei—the only watchmaker in Japan that handles every aspect of the watchmaking process from manufacture to maintenance—is proud to bring you Calligraphy Watches.
5% of the retail price on every sale will be used to support activities that promote recovery in the disaster zone.
The Calligraphy Watches will be on display at re:new tohoku, an event being held from July 11-15 at Asia House in London.
The dial of each watch has one of three calligraphic motifs produced by the Tokyo-based artist Yukiko Takahashi.
1. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter
"Spring (はる), summer (なつ), autumn (あき), winter (ふゆ)." The characters used are hiragana, a cursive Japanese script with a soft and delicate appeal.
2. Your need and no more
“Your need and no more.” In other words, rich are those content with what they have. These Chinese kanji characters are famously inscribed on a handbasin located within Ryoanji, a well-known Kyoto temple.
3. In love now I know I never knew love
“In love now I know I never knew love.” The inscription, written in the hiragana script, is a poem by Fujiwara no Atsutada (906-943).
These wristwatches are not just made in Japan, but made all over Japan, with special contributions from workshops in Tohoku. From the grinding and polishing to the assembly, from the quartz movement to the hands and the dials, Japanese craftsmanship shines in every detail.
